I'm going over the tutorial on the wiki for importing an animation into your effect (http://wiki.popcornfx.com/index.php/Particle_tips_ImportAnimations).  I've followed the tutorial, baked my animation into the FBX, brought it into popcorn, built it with Animation checked so it created the .pkan file, but when I make an AnimTrack sampler the only file type I can choose in the Anim Resource dropdown is an FBX.  When I choose the .pkmm file I get an error saying: Error : [ HH_PARTICLES ] Sampler AnimTrack "Path_0": Cannot load AnipClipPath "Cache/Meshes/attractor_ANIM_test.pkan/Resource"

Is there something I'm doing wrong here?  Please get back to me on this as soon as possible it's very urgent.

Yeah you should pick the FBX file itself, not the .pkmm or .pkan.

This tutorial is pretty old now (v1.4), I'll re-capture some newer screenshots and update the page.

If this is urgent and it still doesn't work as expected, please send your FBX file containing the path at support at popcornfx dot com, I'll watch out for your email and look into it right away.

EDIT: Resolved,

the old outdated tutorial was confusing. It showed the .pkan file produced by the baking in the editor inside an 'Animations' folder: there is no need to manually copy it there.

When importing the mesh, the editor will build a .pkan file for the animation track, and save it inside a cache folder (usually in "Cache/Meshes", or "Editor/Cache/Meshes", depending on your project configuration). This should stay there. when picking the FBX file in the animtrack sampler, the editor will try to remap that path to its cache folder to find the .pkan, so moving the .pkan to an "Animations" directory will break this, the editor won't be able to find it, and the animtrack won't work.

The tutorial page has been updated to match the latest version of the editor: http://wiki.popcornfx.com/index.php/Particle_tips_ImportAnimations

Yeah thats the issue as I stated above:
"When I choose the .pkmm file I get an error saying: Error : [ HH_PARTICLES ] Sampler AnimTrack "Path_0": Cannot load AnipClipPath "Cache/Meshes/attractor_ANIM_test.pkan/Resource"

I am selecting the fbx file but it shows up as a .pkmm in AnimResource

I'll send you an e-mail with the file and a couple screenshots.
Ok, yeah it will display .pkmm but it's indeed the fbx that's referenced, so nothing wrong here.

When I test this with an FBX of my own containing an animation path it does replace it by .pkmm in the editor UI, but it's still able to find the actual animation file.

waiting for your email with the FBX.
I sent the e-mail about 10mins ago, let me know if you still haven't gotten it.  Sent it to support@popcornfx.com
yup, received it, and replied.

Was this issue ever resolved. I'm having a similar problem when using Anim Resource dropdown. I get the same error:  Error : [ HH_PARTICLES ] Sampler AnimTrack "Path_1": Cannot load AnipClipPath "Cache/Meshes/2_Spiral_Curve.pkan/Resource".

I noticed when I import the mesh the editor does NOT build a .pkan file for the animation track in Cache/Meshes. Could that be the problem?

Any help would be great, thanks guys!
If you checked the 'ImportAnimation' property under the 'Animation' sub section of the treeview in the mesh importer, and is does not produce a .pkan file in the Cache folder, can you please send us your .fbx by email at support _at_ popcornfx _dot_ com for us to investigate ?
