Hey all,

Making the switch to PopcornFX and my first error has been when I imported a custom mesh and then tried to change the SampleDimensionality to Volume. I got this error as seen in the image:

I'd like to be able to use a mesh as a volume box as I can deform a cylinder into a pipe shape then import it as a mesh but cannot do that with any of the shape types that seem to work with volume settings.

Hi Michael,
did the solution work ?
It worked perfectly in editor, I'm going to now test it in Unreal and will get back to you.

Hi Michael,

Yes, this is expected, as using the volume sampler for meshes currently requires some manual steps when importing your source FBX meshes into popcorn.

(see the shape sampler page here, in the mesh section, and the red warning: http://wiki.popcornfx.com/index.php/CParticleSamplerShape#Mesh )

The latest 1.10.7 build available here: http://wiki.popcornfx.com/index.php/PK-Editor_v1.10 displays a more comprehensive error message in the viewport, rather than pop that intrusive messagebox, and tells you that volume information is missing from the mesh.

To build volume information for your mesh, you can follow the steps detailed here: http://wiki.popcornfx.com/index.php/Mesh_importer_1100#Building_tetrahedral_meshes

Tell me if it works as expected !

This worked really well in the editor, but is there a way to be able to use the mesh as a volume in Unreal? They are collapsing again in unreal when I import the effect from editor (including importing the fbx)
